Serving as a board member is one of the most challenging and rewarding of volunteer assignments. While appointment or election to a board is an honor, board members have important legal and fiduciary responsibilities that require a commitment of time, skill, and resources. The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) works to improve the health and well-being of people in the Americas and is committed to providing the highest level of technical support and leadership to its Member States as they pursue their goal of Health for All. The organization is internationally recognized as part of the United Nations system, and serves as the Regional Office for the Americas of the World Health Organization (WHO) and as a specialized agency in health of the Organization of American States (OAS).
The purpose of the Audit Committee is to provide the director of PAHO and PAHO Member States, through its Executive Committee, with advice on the operation of the organization’s financial controls and reporting structures, risk management processes, and other audit-related controls. Members of the Audit Committee shall serve in their personal capacity, reflect the highest level of integrity, and be fully independent from PAHO. Each member may serve no more than two full terms of three years each. Applicants must have recent and relevant senior-level financial, auditing, risk management, and/or other oversight-related experience.

These groups join our Boston Nonprofit COO Group as part of our growing National Nonprofit COO Group.
