A well-thought out and well-written job description is an important tool in recruiting individuals who could be effective players on a nonprofit’s leadership team. The job description also can serve as a tool for better understanding the expectations of a role during a job search. As input into your efforts to write board member job descriptions, and to offer insight into the duties and responsibilities of nonprofit board members, we have provided general descriptions based on the Bridgespan Executive Search team's experience working with boards.
