Posting for American Leprosy Missions

Position Details Position Title: President and CEO Function: Fundraising/Development Position Type: Full-Time (Paid) Posted On: 7/23/2010 Job Description: ABOUT ALM
In the minds of many, leprosy is an “unknown”, often mistaken for an antiquated, irrelevant disease that no longer exists. Nonetheless, 250,000 new cases of leprosy were reported in 2008, affecting at least 121 countries, while millions more already suffer from the effects of this dreaded disease.
Founded in 1906, American Leprosy Missions (ALM) is dedicated to touching, treating and transforming the lives of people affected by leprosy and related diseases such as Buruli ulcer. ALM is a non-denominational Christian ministry of hope and restoration that currently supports scores of projects in 14 countries. Donor gifts provide training and transportation for leprosy workers, case-finding and diagnosis, physical and vocational rehabilitation, Christian encouragement, community development and much more.
The Mission Statement of ALM is “to serve as a channel of Christ's love to persons affected by leprosy and related conditions, helping them to be healed in body and spirit and restored to lives of dignity and hope.”  Its Vision – a world without leprosy.
With the help of ALM and partner organizations over the past 20 years, 14 million leprosy patients have been cured.
Founded in 1928, Leonard Wood Memorial (LWM) continues to both provide medical treatment to leprosy patients and conduct significant leprosy research and training on a worldwide basis. It operates a modern research laboratory on the island of Cebu.

THE POSITION
The President and CEO of American Leprosy Missions provides vision and strategic leadership to both ALM and LWM. He or she will carry out the planning, management and administrative responsibilities of the organization(s) to insure that the mission and critical objectives are fulfilled.
