The director, national corporate partnerships is a part of a team that strategically seeks out, secures, and stewards Teach For America's partnerships with corporations, with a primary focus on securing and growing cash funding.  Corporate partnerships may also include joint talent recruitment, technology, and marketing relationships and other mutually beneficial partnerships that leverage the resources (in-kind, human talent, space, etc.) of the corporate community to help Teach For America reach its organizational goals.

The ideal candidate is an exceptional relationship builder and strategic thinker and is able to identify corporations' key levers for growth and barriers to engagement.  S/he will have excellent research, writing, and information analysis skills and be able to identify, target, and develop a pipeline of prospective corporate donors, including developing and executing plans to gain access to and influence key decision makers.  The individual must be able to handle multiple competing priorities and have strong organization and follow-up skills.

The director, national corporate partnerships will report directly to the vice president, national corporate partnerships.  S/he will be part of the four-person corporate team and will contribute to the team's success by helping plan and balance workflow and manage deadlines across the team.

Team Overview
The Growth Strategy and Development team helps Teach For America fulfill our potential as a force for change by marshaling resources, cultivating public and private sector champions, and strategically seizing opportunities for expansion and revenue growth both nationally and regionally
Qualifications: Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Manage a portfolio of 5-10 current small to mid-tier corporate donors
Write/complete timely renewal (& upgrade) grants
Write/complete timely reports as required
Create and execute strategic stewardship plans, including benefit fulfillment
Create, manage and execute appropriate employee engagement opportunities
Help develop and execute specialized programs with high-level donors
Manage the development, qualification, and prioritization of a pipeline of potential new corporate donors
Research corporate landscape for potential partners
Gain deep understanding of most promising potential partners
Support the VP for national corporate partnerships and other senior executives (especially the founder & CEO) in acquisition of new corporate donors and stewardship of highest level current donors
Create and maintain written profiles on targeted companies
Identify paths and strategies to gain access to key decision makers
Prepare customized materials for meetings
Execute follow-up activities as required, including writing correspondence
Work closely with the National Corporate Partnerships team to plan and execute the cultivation strategy for the entire portfolio of national corporate partners
Work closely with the marketing and communications teams to help deliver to donors visibility and benefits appropriate to their partnership level
Develop press releases, newsletter articles, etc.
Develop and execute cause-marketing related activities
Develop/maintain, edit, and proof donor listings
Work closely with the director, national development, who will liaise with the finance and administration teams to
Create budgets (including restricted budgets) for proposals
Create financial reports on previous grants
Track and account for in-kind donations
Work very closely with the IT/Technology team to understand Teach For America's technology needs and help develop/steward Teach For America's relationships with technology donors (who often make in-kind product donations, provide technical and consulting services, and/or give significant discounts on purchase agreements)
Develop deep understanding of how these gifts are valued, accounted for, and acknowledged
Develop and write easily understood ("layman's terms") language about the details of these partnerships
Support the CIO and other technology team members in their interactions with technology donors (proposal writing, report writing, other materials as needed)
Maintain excellent working knowledge of Teach For America's programmatic philosophy, activities, plans and direction.  (Recruiting; Corps Member Selection; Teacher Preparation, Support & Development; Alumni)
Liaise with appropriate program team members to stay current with latest programmatic developments
Match donor interests with appropriate programmatic activities and information
Work specifically with the recruitment and alumni staff members responsible for employer partnerships
Coordinate and work closely with regional development teams and the new site development team to identify, build, and strengthen local corporate partnerships and especially multi-regional corporate partnerships
Coordinate responsibility for stewardship of regional v. national relationships, particularly where there is (potential) overlap with national donors, executing accordingly
Share and solicit information important to the development and maintenance of these donor relationships
Help develop, facilitate, and make operational new employee engagement and volunteerism activities
Coordinate closely with regional development and program teams to execute programs
This role may require moderate travel (approximately 1-2 times per quarter)


Qualifications

Candidate Profile and Experience Prerequisites

Skills:
Bachelors degree required
Minimum of five to seven years of work experience
Experience in corporate fundraising/development strongly preferred
Exceptional strategic thinker and ability to identify the "best" answers given the specific situation
Exceptional organization skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
Ability to build strong relationships with and positively influence a wide variety of people
Excellent client-service orientation and follow-through
Strong research and information analysis skills
Strong, clear writing and communications skills
Excels in an entrepreneurial environment
Interest in education reform sector
