Position Details Position Title: Executive Director Function: Administration/Operations Position Type: Full-Time (Paid) Posted On: 7/29/2010 Job Description: A.  Management. 
• Manages the CAH administration & professional staff services, and day-to-day operations, in accordance with the annual board-approved budget.
• Oversees the hiring and managing of all employees and support staff; Recruits, hires and dismisses CAH management and administrative personnel as required for effective functioning of the CAH administrative office.
• Understands and oversees all financial systems, including annual budget development.
• Ensures maintenance of sound financial practices, and provides the Board regular reports on the annual budget and overall finances, and on short- and long-term cash flow projections.
• In collaboration with the Executive-Finance committee, selects auditors and supports the annual audit process.
• Oversees bookkeeping and treasury functions to ensure timely general ledger entries.
• Maintains CAH’s official records and documents, and ensures compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
• Recruits, selects, and oversees the use of any external consultants for daily services, including those providing fundraising, public relations, marketing/advertising, housing development/property maintenance and other supporting services.
• Evaluates and addresses the information technology needs of the agency to ensure effective performance.
• Oversees repair and maintenance of all CAH facilities.
• Coordinates, reviews, updates, as needed, all personnel policies and procedures.

B.  Program Planning and Development. 
• Stimulates the best thinking of management staff and the Board by devising long-term strategies for the development of CAH programming.
• In conjunction with the management staff and Board, develops, implements and monitors short- and long-term program and housing project plans.
• Acts as the real estate developer for CAH and/or supervises any housing development consultants retained by CAH.
• Evaluates programs, in collaboration with the management staff and Board, on an annual basis, and makes recommendations for appropriate changes.

C.  Marketing and Communications.
• Oversees creation and execution of CAH marketing activities, focusing on the types of media, marketing materials and messages most likely to raise CAH’s profile.
• Develops and maintains an open dialogue among CAH stakeholders, including volunteers, annual donors, institutional funders, the business and professional community, real estate professionals, other affordable housing advocates.
• Attends meetings, conferences and workshops at the state and local level related to the CAH mission and represents CAH on housing committees, task forces and panels.
• Participates in advocacy activities for public policies relating to housing and homelessness at the local and state levels.

D.  Fund Development.
• Oversees creation and implementation of the CAH annual fund development plan.
• Actively cultivates relationships with individual donors, corporate funders, and foundations.
• Hires and oversees the Director of Development, ensuring an active fundraising program and appropriate staff support for Board fundraising initiatives.
• As appropriate, works with the Director of Development and Board members to identify potential individual and institutional funding sources; cultivate and solicit selected individual donor prospects; and ensure submission of grant proposals to institutional and public funders.
• Maintains funding of state and federal contracts, annual reporting requirements for all income sources and acts as the liaison to state agencies.

E.  Board Relationships and Governance Process.
• Meets regularly and works closely with the CAH President to review appropriate matters relating to CAH activities and to identify issues requiring Board attention.
• Consults with the Board President and Executive-Finance Committee members to prepare the annual Board agenda and regular Board meeting agendas, as well as financial reports for Board review.
• Prepares and circulates—in advance of Board and committee meetings—explanatory and supporting documents relating to matters to be considered by members.
• Communicates routinely with Board members regarding operational, financial and program issues and activities.
• Collaborates with the Board and its Nominating Committee to identify, cultivate, and recruit new Board members and other volunteers.
• Works with the Nominating Committee to identify and secure future Board leadership.
• Works closely with the Board and its committees to develop and ensure that CAH’s strategic goals and performance objectives are being met.
Qualifications: • Masters Degree in Non-Profit Management or Business Administration or related field and a minimum of 3 years’ leadership, management and development experience, or a Bachelors Degree in a related field and 5 or more years’ experience
• Demonstrated effectiveness (spoken, written, & interpersonal skills) in advocating for those with housing and related needs
• Experience in managing a Development Program
• A minimum of 3 years experience in:
i. a team leadership role of professional staff, managing their delivery of services to clients;
ii. working successfully with state & federal funding mechanisms;
iii. preparing, managing to, and reporting on an operating budget of
$ 3M – 5M
• Experience in working with a volunteer Board of Directors
• Demonstrated success in managing multiple diverse concurrent projects, processes, and priorities
• Proficiency in MS Office
• Satisfactory completion of a CORI Review
